What this is

When you apply for the rooftop-solar subsidy, the PM Surya Ghar portal hands you a list of empanelled installers for your district. In Bengaluru Urban that list runs to 573 names, in no particular order, with nothing to tell one from another.

The same portal separately publishes how many installations each installer has recorded — nationally, in your state, and in your district. Put those two together and roughly half the list turns out to have never installed anything where you live. That join is all this site does. We add arithmetic and a date. We do not rate anyone.

What is Rooftop Index?

Rooftop Index is an independent public record of the installers empanelled on India's PM Surya Ghar rooftop-solar scheme, showing for each district how many of the listed installers have an installation actually recorded there. It reproduces published government data with arithmetic and a date, publishes no ratings, and is not affiliated with the Government of India.

Where does the data come from?

From the registered-vendor list published on the PM Surya Ghar portal at pmsuryaghar.gov.in, read through the portal's own public interface and recorded as a dated snapshot. Every figure on the site carries the date it was read.

Does Rooftop Index rate or recommend installers?

No. It publishes counts from a government register and nothing else. It has no rating, no score, no ranking by quality and no recommendation, and a low count must not be read as an assessment of an installer.
